As vedic astrology evolved and permeated different regional and geographical locations, different styles emerged. Astrologers and users over time have become habituated to a certain and often find it difficult when presented with what they are not used to. All popular styles are represented in the tabs above.
Different Styles
The Northern Style is read anti-clockwise. The Ascendant is always placed in the top middle. The remaining planets is placed accordingly. The top-left-upper corner will always be the 2nd house. The top-right-upper corner is the 12 house.
The Southern Style is read clockwise. The left upper corner of the rectangle is always Pisces, followed by Aries. Unlike the Northern Style, the chart is quite static. In contrast the Eastern Style is read anti clockwise. The Top-Middle area is always Aries, the next triangular corner left to it is Taurus. The Top-Right triangular area right to it is Pisces - completing the 12 signs.

***AL, A1..A9 and UL are arudha lagnas. An Arudha Pada of a house or a planet (graha) mirrors the entity. It indicates 'Maya'', or 'illusions' associated with that entity. Arudhas of houses indicate illusions or perceptions of others around areas of life of the native, and Arudhas of planets indicate illusion or perception about entities indicated by the planets.
